My music portfolio top picks

Here I'm going to show you some fader balance mixes to final masters. Put on some headphones or listen on a set of speakers you know well to hear the transformation!
These five tracks are part of a charity EP called "Stop Time" which I composed, recorded, mixed and mastered (Note: I don't claim to be a mastering engineer!). The technical goal of this EP was to aim for a warm sound with big, yet balanced low end. I wanted the top end to be soft which is easy on the ears at higher volumes. In terms of the midrange the goal was to have a little more lower mid push which lends itself to the overall tonal theme of "big, yet balanced low end".
The tracks are mixed to have a wide soundstage. I wanted the tracks to have a larger than life feel - utilising a "panning outside of the speakers" technique, we get a massive wide open sound when panned elements are introduced.
Dynamically the track was produced to have large macro dynamics - Section movements from verses to pre-chorus and pre-chorus to chorus are augmented by pushing the macro dynamics louder during sections intended to be intense, and softer during the less intense sections adding good contrast between sections.
In terms of composition the EP was always meant to have a bitter sweet feeling. This is particularly the case in the leading track, "Stop Time".

The Duke Of Wellington - Riverdance composition

Starting fader balance to final master. For this one I was going for a very contemporary mixing style; tight lows with pushed upper mids and treble. I'm personally really happy with how it came out. The composition is called "The Duke of Wellington" and it was co-composed by myself and Andy Lewis of Bestsiderecords.
